Buffalo unrest
In the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis, social unrest has been at an all-time high in the country. Protests have sprouted up across the country and Buffalo is no different. In the Queen City, officers were injured when a vehicle ran into a few of them. On another instance, a 75-year-old man was pushed by two officers and a national outcry was the response when the man started bleeding after that push.
“It’s been very sad to see,” Allen said. “Buffalo is the city of good neighbors that’s what we’re known for.”
It’s a tough question to answer for the face of the franchise, we’ll give him that. You don’t really want to make anyone mad. Although, he did give a little bit of an odd answer. After the officers pushed the old man, they were suspended from duty. In response, 57 officers resigned from a volunteer assignment team to handle things such as protests. Allen said those 57 did that, “rightfully so,” although, that group resigned because those two were suspended, not because they thought their fellow officers were in the wrong.
Regardless, Allen, like many, hope for a just and peaceful resolution to the social unrest.
