No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson was among the NBA players over All-Star Weekend to meet former President Barack Obama at an NBA Cares event in Chicago.
Obama attended the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service Rising Stars Volunteer Project on Friday as the midseason festivities kicked off in his hometown. Obama was seen talking to Williamson, Collin Sexton and Trae Young among others.
Afterward, Williamson shared what that meeting was like, via Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.
He said I’ve been playing great and I just kind of zoned out after that. I was like, ‘That’s all I need to hear.’ … My whole mindset over here was like, ‘It’s President Obama. He’s standing right beside me.’ This will be a memory that I’ll definitely cherish forever.

Obama was among those in attendance last year to watch Williamson and Duke face off against North Carolina in Durham. The 44th president of the United States has kept tabs on Williamson since that game and is apparently impressed with his rookie campaign so far with the New Orleans Pelicans.
