New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson on Tuesday was named to the 2019-20 NBA All-Rookie First Team after appearing in only 24 games this season.
Williamson earned 87 first-team votes from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters and two second-team votes to finish fourth in the final voting results. According to ESPN Stats & Info, his 24 games were the fewest of any player to make the All-Rookie Team.
The awards voting ran from July 21-28 and was based only on regular-season games played through March 11. The seeding games during the season restart did not count toward the voting so Williamson technically earned All-Rookie First Team honors playing in just 19 games.
Zion Williamson made the All-Rookie first team playing in just 24 games.
According to @ESPNStatsInfo research, that’s the fewest of anyone to make the All-Rookie team ahead of Joel Embiid (31 games, 1st team, 2017) and Ricky Rubio (41 games, 2nd team, 2012).

Williamson debuted with the Pelicans on Jan. 22 after undergoing knee surgery last October. He averaged 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 19 games played prior to the season suspension and led all rookies in scoring during that time frame.
The No. 1 overall pick finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting after receiving 37 second-place votes and 24 third-place votes. He also received the lone first-place vote that did not go to Ja Morant after the Memphis Grizzlies guard nearly won unanimously.
