Despite the majority of their time on the court together coming in the preseason, Zion Williamson and Lonzo Ball’s on-court connection has been evident this season. The two are natural on-court fits together and have seen success even in the little time on the court together in the regular season.
After Friday’s game, Williamson talked to reporters about his chemistry with Ball.
“It’s great playing with a guy like that. I can make cuts off the ball and sometimes break the play, but I know he’s going to see me and find me. I think it definitely opens up the game a lot for me.”
In his two games back, Williamson and Ball have shared the court 25 minutes together. Only Williamson and Jrue Holiday have been on the court together more at 30 minutes.
In those 25 minutes, the Pelicans have a 24.1 net rating with an offensive rating of 135.8. That number is buoyed by the fourth-quarter explosion Williamson had in his debut against the Spurs, which is the nature of small sample sizes.
But the two have shown a natural chemistry together and figure to be two of the cornerstones of the Pelicans moving forward.
