New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson shared a moment with LeBron James pre-game on Sunday night prior to playing the Los Angeles Lakers at Smoothie King Center.
The matchup between the pair of No. 1 overall picks is the second in a week after the two teams played each other on Tuesday as the Lakers walked away with the 118-109 victory. James scored a game-high 40 points in that meeting while Williamson had 29 points.
After the matchup, James spoke highly of Williamson, saying that he believed the rookie had been playing exceptionally since debuting in January. Prior to playing on Sunday, the two embraced each other just prior to tip-off.
James said on Tuesday that he hadn’t met Williamson before but that appears to have changed after the two caught up briefly on Sunday night.
The Lakers held a 63-61 lead over the Pelicans at halftime as James had a game-high 19 points while Williamson scored 17 points to lead New Orleans.
