Zion Williamson chatted with Barack Obama during an NBA Cares event

The No. 1 overall pick was alongside former President Barack Obama on Friday as All-Star Weekend kicked off in Chicago.

No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson was seen on Friday morning talking with former President Barack Obama at an NBA Cares event at All-Star Weekend in Chicago.

With the NBA converging in his hometown, Obama was among those in attendance at the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service Rising Stars Volunteer Project, where he met with Williamson, Collin Sexton and several other players.

Obama will meet on Saturday night for a “fireside chat” with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Chris Paul and Kevin Love. The Obama Foundation reached out to those players for a panel discussion on a number of different topics in Chicago.

As a basketball fan himself, Obama is familiar with Williamson.

The 44th president of the United States was among those in attendance last year to watch Williamson and Duke face off against North Carolina in Durham. The game was overshadowed after Williamson suffered a knee injury when his Nike shoe blew out on the court.

Obama wished Williamson the best in his recovery afterward.

Williamson will participate in NBA Rising Stars on Friday night.
