Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett reunited in New York City on Friday

The two former Duke players had an opportunity to catch up with each other Friday night at Madison Square Garden.

Former Duke teammates Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett reunited on the hardwood Friday in New York City as the Knicks prepare to host the New Orleans Pelicans.

Of course, Williamson and Barrett each starred at Duke last season as the Blue Devils advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Williamson would go on to become the No. 1 overall pick while Barrett went two spots later to the Knicks.

Williamson and Barrett previously played Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden last season when they defeated the Red Raiders, 69-58. Williamson led the Blue Devils with 17 points while Barrett scored 16 in that victory.

The Pelicans and Knicks will face each other for the first time this season on Friday, although with Williamson still out, the meeting will not be as enticing as initially thought.

Williamson participated in shootaround with the Pelicans on Friday morning and went through on-court drills with the team but still has not yet been cleared to return.

Williamson should be ready by the next time the two teams play again in March.
