New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson set a new career-high with 32 points on Thursday night during a 123-118 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The No. 1 overall pick finished by shooting 11-of-19 from the field while he went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. Williamson also added six rebounds, one assist and one block as he recorded 11 points of his 32 total points in the second quarter alone.
His performance comes just two nights after recording a career-high of 31 points in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. According to Pelicans PR, Williamson is just the fourth rookie since 2013 to record consecutive 30-point games, joining Trae Young, Luka Doncic and Devin Booker.
Williamson proved to be a force once again on offense as his athleticism and strength often overpowered the opposition. Williamson was a bit erratic at times down in the paint but his activity helped draw fouls on the Thunder’s frontcourt, including center Steven Adams.
While the Pelicans ultimately lost the game, Williamson appears to really be finding his groove after debuting last month as the NBA heads into the All-Star break.
Williamson will participate in NBA Rising Stars on Friday night.
