BOSTON — Zack Godley had a rough outing and suffered his second loss of the 2020 season. The former University of Tennessee right-handed pitcher was shelled Wednesday night in his start against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Godley (0-2) has made four appearances, including three starts, for the Boston Red Sox this season.
Godley went just three innings in Boston’s 9-5 loss to its American League East rival, the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.
He gave up eight runs (all earned), 10 hits and two walks. Godley, who was signed by the Red Sox (6-12) after being released by the Detroit Tigers, has been inconsistent in three starts and one relief outing this season.
He struck out three against the Rays (11-8). Godley, who has an 8.16 earned run average, surrendered three home runs against the Rays.
