BOSTON — Zack Godley made his second start of the season for the Boston Red Sox on Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.
His outing was short but effective as the Red Sox, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
Godley, a former University of Tennessee pitcher who was signed by the Red Sox after being released by the Detroit Tigers late in spring training, threw four scoreless innings against one of his former teams.
He surrendered three hits and two walks while striking out three.
Last season, Godley spent time with the Blue Jays and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In his first start this season, Godley (0-1) was roughed up by the Yankees. He gave up a grand slam in a 5-2 loss to New York.
He was impressive in his first outing for the Red Sox. throwing four innings and striking out seven against the New York Mets.
