The Brooklyn Nets have a lot to consider this offseason as they have to decide the best way to move forward given the current state of the franchise. With the possibility of massive changes happening this summer, the Nets are stuck in the middle of a full rebuild and being a championship contender.
ESPN’s Zach Lowe said in a recent episode of his podcast, the Lowe Post, that he expects the Nets to have a “frothy” internal debate about the direction of the organization. In this particular episode between Lowe and ESPN’s Bobby Marks that was released on Monday, the pair discuss where Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard will go now that Bradley Beal has been traded to the Phoenix Suns.
Lowe mentioned that he wonders if Brooklyn would consider going all-in on trying to win a championship with a team centered around Lillard, Mikal Bridges, and Nic Claxton. While the Nets do not control their own draft picks for the next few seasons, they do have significant draft capital from the Suns. Here’s more of what Lowe had to say about the Nets:
“I think they (the Nets) would have a frothy internal debate about whether going all-in and I mean all-in for Damian Lillard (is the best move). You pair him with Mikal Bridges, and Nic Claxton, and Cam Johnson, whatever’s left over. I don’t know what goes out if it’s all picks and young players. I think they would have a real internal debate like is that a smart move or having pivoted from this era of disaster and accumulated so many picks, can we slow go it a little bit? I think that would be a big internal debate.”
