There has been plenty of speculation around Kevin Love joining the Nets following a potential buyout with the Cavaliers. Until a buyout is reached, no decision on Love’s future will be made.
However, the Cavaliers forward is playing alongside Nets star Kevin Durant at the Team USA training camp. Whether Durant has been focused on recruiting him in the process has not been confirmed. Knowing the 32-year-old’s recent activity with recruitment, it wouldn’t be a surprise.
During the season, the Nets star was the first person to call LaMarcus Aldridge after he reached a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. On that phone call, he told Aldridge to come to Brooklyn and the rest was history. Before that acquisition, Durant played a role in getting Blake Griffin on the Nets. Griffin admitted when he arrived in Brooklyn that KD influenced his decision to join.
According to Rob Shaefer of NBC Sports, Team USA and Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine said there will be a level of recruiting going on in Team USA camp. LaVine said players are mingling, but they are focused on winning a gold medal above all else:
“Players gonna be players, man. You’re gonna mingle and talk. But we’re here for one goal, we’re trying to win the gold medal. I think whatever comes from that — friendships, teammates — I think that’s an afterthought. But you know how the NBA is. Everybody talks, and it’s a player’s league, so we understand what goes on. Something happens, it happens.”
