Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it clear on Monday that Joe Burrow will indeed start the team’s Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals.
One day after coming under heat from fans for playing Burrow down 27-3 near the end of a loss in Tennessee, Taylor admitted that his play-calling needs to be better at working around Burrow’s injury.
On the topic of Burrow’s limitations due to the injury, Taylor said the following: “It is what it is. Every week has continued to improve that way.“
Both Burrow and Taylor didn’t seem overly bothered by the risk of injury late during the loss to the Titans while down 24 points, but Burrow again struggled to get anything going due to a combination of the offensive line and play-calling.
It was worth wondering if the Bengals might rest Burrow now that the team is in a 1-3 hole and with the Week 7 bye looming, but Taylor made a point to get speculation about that out of the way as early as possible this week.
