Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says Joe Burrow didn’t storm in his office asking for the team to draft Ja’Marr Chase.

But he sure didn’t shoot down the idea when asked either.

Appearing on the “Flying Coach” podcast with Peter Schrager and Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, Taylor outlined how much sway Burrow had in the process:

“It was me asking the questions. ‘Hey, do you want to play with him?’ ‘Yeah I do.’ ‘What would you excitement level be, out of 10?’ ‘It would be a 10.’ ‘I don’t really need to add too many other questions here.'”

As the full video shows, Taylor and Co. sure weren’t complaining that the most recent film of Chase just so happened to feature the Bengals’ No. 1 overall pick under center.

A look behind the scenes at Taylor’s thought process just reaffirms what is obvious now when it comes to the Bengals taking a wide receiver over offensive line help in the first round.

And no, it sure doesn’t hurt that Burrow liked the idea when asked.
