This U.S. men’s national team World Cup roster is young.
With an average age of 25 years, 175 days, this is the second-youngest USMNT World Cup squad ever, only behind the college-laden 1990 squad.
It continues a theme we saw throughout World Cup qualifying, when the USMNT fielded by far the youngest team to qualify for the tournament with an average starting XI of 23.82 years old.
With just three over-30 players (Tim Ream, Sean Johnson and Aaron Long) and nine under 23 on the roster, the U.S. will be one of the youngest teams in Qatar.
To get a sense of the youth of this USMNT World Cup squad, let’s look at the team grouped by its birth year.
