[autotag]Youssef Zalal[/autotag] has been one of the UFC’s most active fighters in 2020 – and he’s been booked yet again.
On Oct. 17, Zalal (10-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) will square off with [autotag]Seungwoo Choi[/autotag] – pending bout finalization. The event does not have an official venue or location at this time.
Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the targeted booking Monday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Zalal, 23, is 3-0 in the UFC in 2020. After defeating Austin Lingo in his promotional debut at UFC 247 in February, Zalal defeated Jordan Griffin in June by unanimous decision. On Aug. 8, Zalal defeated Peter Barrett by unanimous decision – the third fight in as many appearances he took on short notice. With the win, Zalal became the first UFC fighter in 2020 to go 3-0.
In December, Choi (8-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) rebounded from an 0-2 start to his UFC tenure. After losses to Movsar Evloev and Gavin Tucker, Choi defeated Suman Mokhtarian at UFC on ESPN+ 23. In eight pro victories, Choi has five finishes.
With the addition, the current Oct. 17 lineup includes:
- Poliana Botelho vs. Gillian Robertson
- Krzysztof Jotko vs. Makhmud Muradov
- Modestas Bukauskas vs. Jimmy Crute
- Seungwoo Choi vs. Youssef Zalal
