With the 2021 recruiting class wrapping up last February, the focus for Dan Mullen and his staff at Florida has shifted to the 2022 class. The Gators are off to a solid start with five commitments so far.
Mullen and his staff have more offers out to dozens of recruits in the 2022 class, hoping to reel in a big one following a somewhat disappointing 2021 class.
As we continue to get through the spring and prepare for somewhat normal recruiting visits beginning this summer with the NCAA’s ban lifted, ESPN recently dropped their updated 2022 recruiting class rankings. And while it’s not exactly where they want to be just yet, the Gators have checked in at No. 20 with two ESPN300 commits. Here is what the site had to say about Mullen’s class:
Dan Mullen and staff have quality out of the gate in the 2022 cycle, headlined by ESPN 300 Lone Star State signal caller Nick Evers, who won positional MVP at the Dallas Under Armour camp this spring. Livingston, who is converting from tight end, has a high ceiling for development at offensive tackle. Other in-state four-star commits on the list are WR Syveion Ellis, TE C.J. Hawkins and DE Francois Nolton.
While the Gators were No. 20 overall, they were No. 6 in the SEC behind No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 LSU, No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 12 Alabama and No. 19 Missouri.
(function (d, s, n) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
js = d.createElement(s);
js.className = n;
js.src = “//player.ex.co/player/e5869bc6-faf6-4b7a-8c06-b5610c96a8fe”;
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘exco-player’));
There’s still a lot of time left in this recruiting cycle and a few more commitments could push the Gators inside the top 15. While the goal is always to be in that top 5, landing in the top 15 would be somewhat of a victory for the Gators.
