“You can help your guys be a step ahead,” Clifford said. “A lot of the stuff that you cover in the morning (at a shootaround) is obviously the stuff that they’re going to run later in the game, which is usually the kind of go-to plays of each team. “I do it a little bit, but the assistants help ’em out a lot. They’ll jump up, particularly the guys who have done (the scouting report for) that game and they’ll give ’em the call or they’ll give ’em the coverage or the action that they’re using. You can actually help your defense quite a bit.”
