‘You absolutely can control it’ Mike Elko is confident in Texas A&M’s postseason chances

Texas A&M HC Mike Elko discussed his team’s confidence heading into the final stretch

Texas A&M’s (8-2, 5-1 SEC) postseason dreams are tied to two more wins against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night and the season-finale vs. Texas inside what should be a sold-out Kyle Field.

While this looks like one of the hardest two-game stretches in college football, head coach Mike Elko is more than confident in the talent and veteran leadership the Aggies’ roster presents weekly despite losing star running back Le’Veon Moss for the rest of the season.

On Wednesday, during the weekly Aggie Football Hour, Elko put any disbelief regarding A&M’s confidence level, or, especially, the notion that they are looking past the Auburn Tigers before hosting the Longhorns, to bed when discussing the program’s complete control of their postseason dreams.

“There’s a misbelief that you can just want it, or it’s chance, or you can’t control it. You absolutely can control it. You absolutely can control your own success. As long as you’re talented enough, which we are, you have the ability to control your own success.”

While talent and depth are vital to getting through the season and lasting through the 12-team playoff if the Aggies make it, mindset is everything, and this team has shown the will to play through any adversity throughout the 2024 season.

Texas A&M will face Auburn on the road on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 pm. CT. The game will air on ESPN.
