Former Vol Yan Gomes records two hits at Detroit.

The Cubs defeated Detroit, 6-4, Wednesday at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan.

Former Vol Yan Gomes started at catcher for Chicago. He was 2-for-4, recording one RBI and one run.

Gomes played for the Vols from 2007-08 before transferring to Barry University.

He won the World Series with the Nationals in 2019. The former Vol was an American League All-Star (2014) and won a Silver Slugger Award (2014) while playing for Cleveland.

The Cubs will next play on Thursday, opening a four-game series at Pittsburgh.
