Former Vol Yan Gomes went 2-for-4, recording one double and three RBIs.
Gomes played at Tennessee from 2007-08 before transferring to Barry University.
Gomes has recorded a .274 batting average, eight home runs, 38 RBIs, 30 runs, 61 hits, eight doubles, three triples and one stolen base in 2023. He is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak.
Gomes won the World Series with the Nationals in 2019. He was an American League All-Star with Cleveland. The former Vol won a Silver Slugger Award in 2014.
Chicago next plays Friday, continuing its series against the Cardinals. First pitch is slated for 8:15 p.m. EDT in St. Louis.
