Former Vol Yan Gomes went 1-for-4 and hit a two-run home run for Chicago.
Gomes played at Tennessee from 2007-08 before transferring to Barry University.
Gomes has recorded a .264 batting average, seven home runs, 26 RBIs, 45 hits, three doubles and one stolen base in 2023.
He won the World Series with Washington in 2019. The former Vol was an American League All-Star with Cleveland in 2018 and won a Silver Slugger Award in 2014.
Chicago next plays Friday, opening a three-game series at the Yankees. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. EDT at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York.
