XFL Seattle Dragons will play Week 6 without fans due to virus threat

Due to the increasing threat of the coronavirus in Washington State, the XFL Seattle Dragons will play their Week 6 home game without fans.

The Week 6 game between the XFL Seattle Dragons and Los Angeles Wildcats will be played on Sunday as scheduled, however, the stands will be empty.

With the elevated risk of exposure to the coronavirus in the state, Washington’s governor, Jay Inslee, has limited public events via proclamation. Events that are scheduled to take place in King (Seattle), Snohomish, and Pierce counties with more than 250 people are now prohibited.

The Dragons released a statement Wednesday via Twitter informing fans they would not be allowed in the stadium for Sunday’s event.

“Based on the proclamation issued Wednesday by Washington Governor Jay Inslee, the Seattle Dragons will host the LA Wildcats this Sunday, as scheduled. The game will take place at 4pm PT at CenturyLink Field without fans in the venue. The game will be broadcast live, also as scheduled, on ESPN2. – Jeffrey Pollack, XFL President & COO”

Fans who had already purchased single-game tickets for the matchup will be provided a refund and season ticket holders can request a refund or credit towards next season instead. Click here for more refund information.
