One of the WWE’s biggest events of the year since its inception in 1988, SummerSlam is affectionally known as “The Biggest Party of the Summer.”
The event was originally created as an additional pay-per-view to compete with WCW. Considered to be the second biggest show of the year next to WrestleMania, the summer event is among the “Big Five” pay-per-views/premium live events along with Money in the Bank, Survivor Series, and Royal Rumble. Throughout the years SummerSlam has been held in major cities across the United States, including stops in Canada and England. The event typically takes place in August, but will take place in July for the first time in 2022.
The event has hosted some of the most memorable matches in WWE history, including historic championship matches, the inaugural WWE Universal Championship match, and much more.
