Ford Field, prepare for the Biggest Party of the Summer. WWE SummerSlam 2023 is headed your way this weekend, ready to deliver what should be a spectacle that is second only to WrestleMania.
There are some big, emotional matches planned to help ensure it reaches that status (which WWE will promote as multiple main events, but sorry, only the match that goes on last is really the main event). Roman Reigns will defend both his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and his position as Tribal Chief in Tribal Combat against vengeful cousin Jey Uso in what could be one of the emotionally charged bouts you’ll see in any wrestling company this year.
There’s plenty of ill will built up between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor as well — seven years, to be exact. They will clash over Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship with the specter of a potential Money in the Bank cash-in by Balor’s teammate Damian Priest also hanging over their encounter.
Not to be outdone, Cody Rhodes will take on Brock Lesnar in the rubber match of a series currently tied 1-1. Can the American Nightmare finally put the Beast Incarnate behind him and return to his world title pursuits?
With less than a week to go, here’s how the card has shaped up, though we will update this post with any additions after Raw or SmackDown.
