For much of its 40-year history, WrestleMania hasn’t had to worry much about the weather. It was either held indoors, meaning a spring date was never an issue, or in a warm location. The Orlando editions, for instance, did have to plan for rain but didn’t face the prospect of wrestlers and fans shivering into the night.
WrestleMania 29 was arguably the first to tempt Mother Nature, as it was outdoors at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Early April weather on the east coast is something of a crap shoot, and that’s relevant again as the wrestling world gets set for WrestleMania 40 — which will be outdoors at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
We’re now within range of the 10-day forecast for the event, and fortunately it doesn’t look too bad.
What is the Philadelphia weather forecast for WrestleMania 40?
Last update: March 28, 12:15 p.m. ET.
Here’s the most important word: dry. According to Weather.com, there’s only a 5% chance of rain on Saturday, April 6 and a 20% chance on Sunday, April 7. That’s perhaps the most critical part of the forecast, as the area over and around the ring will be protected from the elements (as we’ve seen in WrestleMania setups in past years) but most of the fans will not be under cover.
High temps are listed at 62 degrees for both days, with winds topping out at 9 mph. However, it will be colder at night: a low of 40 on Saturday night and 43 on Sunday night.
With both nights of WrestleMania expected to run hours after sundown, that means you might want to dress in layers if you’re attending in person. It’s likely to be pretty comfortable when fans first enter the stadium and pretty chilly by main event time.
We’ll update this post as WrestleMania 40 gets closer with the latest changes. Be prepared for what the weather might throw at you in Philadelphia, and enjoy the show if you’re attending.
