WR Donovan Olugbode could add to Washington’s trove of 2025 skill position recruits

Washington is hot on the trail of four-star Donovan Olugbode who could be a star for the Huskies even in a crowded receiver room.

It may be early in the 2025 recruiting class, but Jedd Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll have compiled quite the group of skill position players. Fisch and Carroll have been excellent evaluators of these positions in the past, as they stocked up on playmakers across the offense at Arizona.

Thus far, Washington has secured commitments from four-star tight ends Baron Naone and Vander Ploog to go along with three-star receivers Raiden Vines-Bright, Deji Ajose, and Dezmen Roebuck. There are plenty of other players in the class at other positions who can contribute at some point early in their careers.

One of the recruits Washington is heavily pursuing and could be closing in on a commitment from is talented wide receiver Donovan Olugbode, who is ranked as a top 100 player in the country by 247Sports.

Anytime as a coaching staff has an opportunity to tap into the powerhouse that is IMG Academy, it’s worth it. In Olugbode’s case, it not only allows the Huskies to establish deeper roots with IMG, but could also get them a terrific player.

Olugbode operates out of a number of alignments, from traditional X receiver, to the slot, and sometimes even as a blocker from the TE spot. It’s rare to find a high school receiver with his measurables (6-foot-1, 200-pounds) at such a young age.

He is built extremely well for a wideout, at his current size he could come in and be ready for college-level play on day one. Although Olugbode doesn’t have tremendous deep speed, he displays impressive quickness and explosion that serves him well as a route runner.

For IMG, Olugbode was a target vacuum who seemed to catch everything that came his way. His body control is among the best in his class and combined with elite sideline awareness, he is a reliable target outside the numbers. He does many of the little things that can make a receiver successful, and this bodes well for him for his potential future at Washington.

It’s wildly impressive that Fisch and his staff have been able to convince so many talented pass-catchers to get on board with their vision. If the team can close the deal with a player like Olugbode, it will add yet another archetype of receiver to their class and will give the team a plethora of options next season.
