The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday and the Raiders could be “buyers” after starting the season 5-2 and leading the AFC West. With a playoff berth in reach, the Raiders should consider making one or two “small” moves to strengthen the back-end of the roster.
One spot in which they could add depth is at wide receiver. The Raiders are very reliant on Henry Ruggs and his speed but have no one else on the team that can make big plays down the field.
The Rams have made it known that DeSean Jackson will be moved in the next few days and he seems like a perfect fit in Las Vegas. Here is what the staff at ESPN had to say about a potential trade:
“The Los Angeles Rams and DeSean Jackson have reached an apparent crossroads only seven games into the veteran receiver’s time in Los Angeles. Coach Sean McVay said Friday that the team has agreed to allow Jackson to look into trade options and that Jackson will not play Sunday against the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium.”
Jackson turns 35 in December, but he is still one of the league’s best deep threats. He is averaging over 27 yards per reception this season and can still run away from defenders.
With the Raiders throwing the ball down the field more than any other team in the NFL, this is a pairing that makes sense. Jackson can even help in the punt return game, giving Hunter Renfrow a breather, if needed.
Considering the cost will likely be a Day 3 pick swap, this is a move the Raiders should make as he would make their offense even more dangerous. Look for Jackson to be traded or released in the upcoming days and for the Raiders to potentially be interested.
