Worth every penny: Marcus Peters fined for touchdown saving horse collar tackle

Today the NFL announced a few fines for last week’s games. Among them was a fine of $13,378 on Raiders cornerback Marcus Peters for a horse collar tackle he made against the Packers. And a better value for a fine you simply will not see.

Basically it’s $3345 per point the tackle saved, it happened on a huge 77-yard catch and run by Christian Watson. Grabbing Watson by the back of his collar was the only way of stopping him from finishing it off for a touchdown.

Even with the penalty tacked on, the Packers were unable to get it into the end zone and would settle for a field goal to give them a 13-10 lead. The Raiders offense was able to follow up the defensive stand at the goal line with a touchdown drive to take a 17-13 lead.

That would be the final score, which means that horse collar didn’t just save four points, it was the difference in the win.

Worth. Every. Penny.
