World Wide Technology Raceway rumored to move into 2025 NASCAR playoffs

World Wide Technology Raceway is rumored to move into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs after a successful Enjoy Illinois 300.

World Wide Technology Raceway is relatively new to the NASCAR Cup Series scene, but it has produced fun racing. The venue debuted in the Cup Series during the 2022 season with the NextGen car and finished its third race, with Austin Cindric winning dramatically in 2024. However, what is Gateway’s future on the NASCAR calendar?

According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi on “The Teardown,” Gateway is expected to move into the 2025 NASCAR playoffs. This would be a massive move for World Wide Technology Raceway, which would host its first playoff race in 2025. The 1.25-mile track has been mainly dominated by Ford and Chevrolet, as Toyota has yet to win at the venue in the Cup Series.

Gateway is also not the only track expected to join the NASCAR playoffs, as Darlington Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway are likely to move in as well. World Wide Technology Raceway has been successful over the last three years with big crowds and fun racing. Now, the track could be rewarded for its success.
