What began as a shared vision to create equal opportunities for women in motorsport has evolved into a groundbreaking movement that’s reshaping the industry.
The Women with Drive Summit – Driven by Mobil 1 (WWDIV), led by Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA), has become a powerful forum for promoting and advancing women’s roles across all motorsport disciplines. This summit and its parent organization, WIMNA, stand as symbols of progress, aiming to empower the next generation of women leaders in motorsport.
Founded by a dedicated group of industry veterans, WIMNA began with a clear purpose: Enabling and advancing careers in motorsports for women. With this focus, the WWDIV emerged as a premier event that celebrates the achievements of women across various motorsport fields, from engineering and design to racing and media. By gathering leading experts, athletes and aspiring young women, the WWDIV has opened doors for mentorship, professional development and collaboration.
For the first time, the Summit will be held in Indianapolis this year, bringing its fourth annual gathering to the “Racing Capital of the World” Dec. 10-11. Hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, the Women with Drive IV – Driven by Mobil 1 Summit is a must-attend event that unites leaders, advocates and innovators in motorsport for three days of impactful sessions and networking.
“WWDIV is more than an event — it’s a movement that honors the resilience and skill of women who have paved the way and those who will continue to break new ground,” said Cindy Sisson, Executive Director of WIMNA . “As we reflect on the journey of WIMNA, we’re reminded of the importance of community, shared resources and the power of being unstoppable in pursuing our goals.”
Mobil 1 has been a steadfast supporter since the early years of the WWDIV summit, recognizing the unique contributions women bring to the sport and the need to amplify those voices.
“The Mobil 1 brand has a passion for inclusion and a love of driving, and the WWDIV Summit is an important part of that mission,” said Michelle Hassinger, OEM Marketing Manager for ExxonMobil, manufacturer of Mobil 1 – the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand. “We are proud to stand with WIMNA to energize the motorsports community and ensure that women are visible, valued and celebrated in every aspect of the industry.”
The impact of WIMNA and the WWDIV Summit has been transformative, especially within academic and training programs for aspiring motorsport professionals.
Dr. Lindsay Hofferberth, Assistant Professor of Sport & Motorsport Management at Belmont Abbey College, has seen firsthand the difference this initiative makes.
“Over the past three years, our motorsport program’s female student population has surged from four to 15, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to empowering women in the motorsport industry,” Hofferberth said. “By following WIMNA’s lead and engaging with the WWDIV Summit, we’ve created unparalleled learning and networking opportunities for our students to thrive in this competitive field.”
With a history rooted in advocacy, mentorship and empowerment, the WWDIV Summit and WIMNA continue to drive positive change within motorsport, proving that the future of the industry is stronger with women at its core.
