As the offseason coahcing carousel continues in the NBA, now is the time for teams who have vacancies to begin putting together their potential candidates for the job.
The Washington Wizards, who fell to the Philadelphia 76ers in Round 1 of the playoffs, have a current opening and they reached out to the Sixers for an interview with a potential candidate.
Sam Cassell, who was assigned Ben Simmons in his first season as an assistant in Philadelphia, had an interview with the Wizards for their head job. He was an assistant in Washington for five seasons before joining Doc Rivers with both the Los Angeles Clippers and the Sixers.

Cassell has a strong reputation as one of the top player developers in the league and he was given credit for his work with Simmons in Philadelphia. The Wizards are a team who, outside of Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, have a lot of younger players who need some guidance. He would be a nice addition to them.
