[autotag]Zak Cummings[/autotag] has been forced out of UFC Fight Night on April 10 due to undisclosed reasons and Marquez (8-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will step in to face [autotag]Sam Alvey[/autotag] (33-14-1 MMA, 10-9-1 UFC).

A person with knowledge of the booking told MMA Junkie of the change Thursday. UFC officials subsequently announced the new matchup.

Marquez returned from a 31-month layoff in February and scored a comeback submission finish of Maki Pitolo at UFC 258. The win earned him a “Performance of the Night” bonus and a shoutout from pop star Miley Cyrus, whom he asked to be his valentine after his win.

Alvey will move back down to middleweight for the first time since October 2017. After notching back-to-back wins over Marcin Prachnio and Gian Villante at light heavyweight, Alvey went winless in his next five outings, most recently a split draw against Da Un Jung at UFC 254.

With the change, the UFC on ABC 2 lineup now includes:

  • Darren Till vs. Marvin Vettori
  • Arnold Allen vs. Sodiq Yusuff
  • Nina Ansaroff vs. Mackenzie Dern
  • Kyle Daukaus vs. Aliaskhab Khizriev
  • Sam Alvey vs. Julian Marquez
