With injuries mounting, Packers work out three different wide receivers

The Packers reported workouts for three different receivers on Friday.

The Green Bay Packers may need to sign a wide receiver to get through the preseason, and they are looking into outside options.

The team reported workouts for receivers Donnie Corley (Texas Southern), Damonte Coxie (Memphis) and Isaac Whitney (USC) on Friday, per the league’s transaction wire.

The preseason starts Saturday against the Houston Texans, but the Packers are currently dealing with injuries to receivers Equanimeous St. Brown, Juwann Winfree and Devin Funchess, and Chris Blair just returned to practice from an injury.

The Packers could sit Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb during the preseason, leaving the position lacking the depth necessary for exhibition contests.

Corley, a rookie undrafted free agent, caught 72 passes over 10 games for Texas Southern in 2019. A coveted recruit, he left Michigan State after a sexual assault charge.

Coxie was a two-time All-AAC selection and one of the most productive receivers in Memphis history. After catching 72 passes for 1,174 yards in 2018 and 76 for 1,276 in 2019, he opted out after just two games in 2020.

Whitney was an undrafted free agent out of USC in 2017. He has spent time with the Raiders, Texans Buccaneers and Cardinals over the last four years. The Cardinals waived him earlier this month.
