After an incredible 2021 campaign, Wisconsin linebacker Leo Chenal was named the Butkus-Fitzgerald Big Ten Linebacker of the Year on Tuesday.
The junior star paired with Jack Sanborn to form one of the best duos in the country, and after missing the first two weeks of action with COVID-19 returned to have the best season of his career. He was at his best against Army’s unique option look, totaling a career-high 17 tackles, coming up with a sack, and forcing a fumble in the win.
He recorded 106 total tackles and had 7 sacks on the year for a Badger defense ranked near the top of the nation in nearly every statistical category.
