Wisconsin offers a four-star 2022 DT who decommitted from Michigan

Wisconsin is looking to land a Michigan decommit

Wisconsin football is looking to land one of the top players in the state of Michigan after he decided to withdraw his verbal commitment from the Wolverines.

Four-star 2022 DE Alex VanSumeren is one of two VanSumeren brothers who left the Wolverines program last week. The Essexville, Michigan native’s big brother Ben VanSumeren, a 2018 Wolverine signee, entered the transfer portal right around the same time.

Since his decision to end his verbal commitment to Michigan, one of 2022’s top defensive players has been racking up offers from a number of schools, including Wisconsin. He announced the offer yesterday via Twitter.

The Garber High School star has received offers from Alabama, Penn State, Oregon, and Texas A&M as his recruiting once again heats up. VanSumeren totaled 63 tackles, including 19 tackles for loss, eight sacks and 32 quarterback hurries in a 2020 year where his Garber squad went 7-2. He earned first-team All-State honors for his accomplishments.
