Wisconsin is still yet to crack the KenPom Top 25

The Wisconsin Badgers have started the 2021-22 basketball season hotter than anybody could’ve imagined. The team sits at 8-1 (1-0 Big Ten) with the only loss coming to Providence when the team was without Jonathan Davis.

The team was picked by many preseason to finish near No. 10 in the Big Ten as the group develops and the youth improves. Well, the team is quickly rising in every ranking system thanks to Jonathan Davis’ clear stardom, a strong defensive identity and Greg Gard’s work coaching the group.

Despite the impressive start, though, the Badgers are still outside of the KenPom Top 25. They sit at No. 26 and No. 7 in the Big Ten.

Last year’s team was often towards the top of the KenPom ranking, though went on to limp down the stretch of a challenging Big Ten season. Maybe this is the year where, despite where advanced metrics see the team, it all falls into place.
