Wisconsin HC Luke Fickell explains Badgers 2024 training camp motto

Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell met with the media after the first day of the Badgers’ 2024 training camp on Tuesday. He elaborated specifically on the theme of this year’s camp, a motto clearly displayed on the front of his black sweatshirt:

‘Hunt or be Hunted.’

“Our greatest challenge has got to be within our own program,” Fickell said. “The whole idea of ‘hunt or be hunted,’ we have to understand there is a lot of hunting going on within this own program. And that’s what it is. It’s us challenging each other to make each other better. It should be toughest for me, you can be excited about them punching the ball out, then you can be really gut-hurt because ‘why is the ball on the ground.’ I think it’s an emphasis on both sides of how we do things. That’s going to do nothing but make us better.”

Wisconsin will conduct the first two weeks of its fall camp on the campus of UW-Platteville before returning to Madison on Aug. 12. The team opens the 2024 season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Western Michigan — kicking off what is a pivotal season for the Fickell era with the program.
