Mere minutes before Wisconsin basketball tips off its 2021 NCAA Tournament against North Carolina, the Wisconsin football program received a good piece of recruiting news.

Despite its slow start to the 2022 recruiting cycle, the program has landed transfer defensive end Isaac Townsend.

Townsend committed to Oregon as part of its class of 2019, choosing it over Boise State, Iowa State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Virginia and Washington State among others.

The Arvada, Colorado native redshirted in 2019 and didn’t appear in a game for the Ducks during the 2020 season.

He joins a Wisconsin defensive end rotation of Matt Henningsen, Isaiah Mullens, Cade McDonald and T.J. Bollers.
