Wisconsin DL Matt Henningsen named an Academic All-American

The Wisconsin DL earns national academic honors

Wisconsin DL Matt Henningsen has excelled not only as a walk-on defensive lineman but also as an electrical engineering student-athlete.

The Badger senior was named to the 2020-2021 NCAA Academic All-American team as the lone Wisconsin football representative. Henningsen earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in electrical engineering one of Wisconsin’s hardest majors.

Henningsen has already earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of his first three seasons as a Badger. He injured his arm last season in Wisconsin’s 49-11 win over Michigan, but was ready to go for the beginning of spring practice this past March.

Henningsen will certainly be a key contributor for Jim Leonhard’s defense come this fall.
