The early part of this offseason was an eventful one for Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard. Fresh off of leading one of the best defenses in the country, the Wisconsin alum received interest for the open DC job in Green Bay.
The Badger DC was ultimately the top candidate for the Packer job, but elected to stay in Wisconsin. The reason Leonhard turned down an NFL opportunity? Unfinished business as a Badger.
In Leonhard’s first media appearance since the Packer saga, he detailed why he was staying at his alma mater:
“I love Madison,” he said. “To me, there’s some unfinished business with the University of Wisconsin. I love this group of kids and want to continue to develop them. With COVID being the way it was last year, I would have felt a specific way about myself having left after that season.
