Winston Watkins Jr. opened up on his decision to decommit from Colorado

Class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. surprised a lot of people when he decided to decommit from Colorado on Sunday. The young recruit committed to Colorado immediately after Deion Sanders got hired, and he has surely made highlights over the summer at various camps.

Despite the decision to open up his recruitment, Watkins said he’s still considering a future in Boulder, per Adam Gorney of Rivals.

“I’m still messing with Colorado super, super heavy, but I just want to make sure I’m making the right decision,” Watkins told Rivals.

Watkins also told Recruiting News Guru the following: “I am making sure I am making the right decision; I am keeping my options open. There are a lot of schools wanting to contact me, but they are scared of Colorado. I want to make sure everyone can show me their best.”

The First Baptist Academy (Fla.) wide receiver’s attention is currently on the playoffs, but the good news is that Colorado still has a shot of landing him.

Hopefully, Watkins’ decision doesn’t lead to other decommits, although Colorado isn’t the only program dealing with this.
