Loser: SS Johnathan Abram
Johnathan Abram has become a fan favorite with attitude and swagger. His penchant for big hits has led to highlights on social media as well as his trash-talking antics. Sunday night was a different story, and we saw Abram’s worst game of the season so far.
Abram did have a couple of good tackles late in the game but overrode those with costly mistakes. The first one was the personal foul on the Chiefs’ second to last drive of the game. The penalty helped give them an extra 15 and went right down to score. Of course, the biggest play was the ugly blown coverage on the game’s last touchdown, allowing Kelce wide open behind him.
Abram has to be more disciplined as a player, but it might just be him and nothing the Raiders can do. It is still his first season seeing action, and there is potential there to be a fine player in this league. This game just was not one of those moments.
Loser: WR Nelson Agholor
Nelson Agholor has been the surprise of the year for this Raiders offense. He was explosive Sunday with six receptions for 88 yards and another touchdown on nine targets. However, it’s the targets he missed are why he is in this column.
Agholor’s first big miss came in the first half when the Raiders had a chance to go up to ten. While it was a low throw from Carr, the Chiefs were making those catches all night for Mahomes. The second drop was devastating when Carr dropped a great ball on the run, and Agholor couldn’t bring it in, which would have given the Raiders a first down.
Both of these drops cost the Raiders a chance at taking a commanding lead in this game. Agholor wasn’t the only player to drop the football, of course, but he was the most crucial. It’s a reputation that has followed him throughout his career and showed up Sunday night.
