Windhorst: Nets ‘turned off’ by current offers for Kevin Durant

Brian Windhorst says the trade packages he’s heard about for Kevin Durant have been underwhelming.

Kevin Durant sent the NBA world into a frenzy weeks ago when he requested a trade away from Brooklyn, but Durant is still a Nets player as of Friday, and one of his preferred destinations – the Phoenix Suns – are now seemingly out of the running to acquire him.

Barring a multi-team blockbuster deal, the likes of which Bobby Marks proposed this week that would see the Nets land Donovan Mitchell,  it’s becoming more likely that Durant could start the season in Brooklyn.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said this week that the trade packages he’s heard about have been underwhelming, and that it will take some type of “event,” such as Durant making another request, for any trade momentum to be generated.

“The Nets are just really turned off by what they’ve been offered, and if some of the trade packages that have been floated to me are true, I agree with them. I think that they should expect more for Kevin Durant with four years left on his contract. But the other teams in the league, they just don’t believe that the Nets have a lot of leverage here, despite the fact that Durant has four years on his contract. And the offers that they’re making are reflective of that belief.”
