[autotag]William Byron[/autotag] didn’t have the speed that he needed to win a NASCAR Cup Series championship and it resulted in a fourth-place finish as the third-highest Championship 4 runner. Byron won Stage 1 and led a significant portion of the race; however, the No. 24 car lacked the long-run pace to truly have a shot at a title.
Following the final pit stops of the day, the Hendrick Motorsports driver came off pit road as the second-highest Championship 4 runner behind teammate Kyle Larson. However, Byron didn’t have a strong restart and found himself behind both Larson and Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney. The latter went on to win the championship.

Overall, it was a very successful season for Byron and one that he should be proud of following 2023. In the end, Byron finished with six wins, 15 top-5 finishes, and 21 top-10 finishes en route to a third-place finish in the point standings. The driver of the No. 24 car will be back in the Championship 4 at some point and that fact was proven in 2023.
