Will Trevor Lawrence play against Notre Dame?
We don’t know.
Now for context if you’re into such things.
A massive story broke on Thursday night as it was announced that college football’s biggest star, No. 1 Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19.
The positive test means the Heisman Trophy front-runner will not be able to play Saturday when Clemson takes on Boston College but what happens a week from then when the Tigers are scheduled to play one of the biggest games in all of college football this season as they travel to No.4 Notre Dame?
In short – he certainly isn’t guaranteed to play but it’s anything but certain he won’t be available on November 7, either. A few things to know as this story continues to develop:
- Clemson is operating under the guidelines of the Center for Disease Control that suggest 10 days of isolation after a positive test is administered.
- With Wednesday being test day and counting as day one, the ten day window would be complete starting exactly on Nov. 7, making him eligible to play against Notre Dame.
- That’s all dependent on symptoms going away as he’s said to have been experiencing mild ones as of Thursday night.
So here’s your answer:
Trevor Lawrence will be eligible to play assuming the symptoms end and don’t worsen, but that’d also mean he wouldn’t have practiced with teammates for almost two weeks as well.
Tons more to come in regards to this as it’s not even Notre Dame/Clemson week yet but most importantly just get healthy fast, 16. College football is better when you’re a part of it.
