White has improved considerably as a player since joining Boston’s roster via trade from the San Antonio Spurs the season before last. He has gone from what some short-sighted analysts called a disaster to saving the Celtics’ postseason (albeit for just one game) single-handedly. And having the onetime University of Colorado standout locked up would go a long way to providing the sort of stability a contending team needs.
