While much attention about the extensions of Boston Celtics All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum and starting point guard Derrick White has been paid by the NBA media, Boston also has another player up for an extension should the Celtics deem it a wise move — reserve guard Payton Pritchard.
And to that point, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus recently weighed in on whether he expects the West Linn native to be extended this season. Per Pincus, “Pritchard could benefit once the dust settles” in terms of playing time this season given “the Celtics have some damage control to work out with (Malcolm) Brogdon” after Boston tried to trade the Georgia native to the Los Angeles Clippers.
To the B/R analyst, this could give Pritchard just enough run to justify the Celtics locking him up longer-term.
"Better spacing & a reliable kickout option in Kristaps Porzingis, that should really go a long way for Boston"

“Don’t put it past the Celtics to lock Pritchard down on a team-friendly number before the season,” notes the author.
