New Colorado football wide receiver Will Sheppard made his presence known during the Buffs’ first preseason practice on Monday when he and quarterback Shedeur Sanders connected on a touchdown.
Sheppard, an incoming transfer from Vanderbilt, created just enough separation from cornerback Braden Keith and Sanders dropped the pass in perfectly. Considering Sheppard didn’t arrive in Boulder until after spring ball, his visible chemistry with Sanders is encouraging.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound graduate student reeled in 2,067 receiving yards, including a career-best 776 in 2022, and 21 touchdowns throughout his four seasons with the Commodores.
Sheppard wasn’t the only Colorado player to make considerable noise on day one, however. Still settling into his new position, linebacker Trevor Woods recorded two interceptions, according to CU insider Uncle Neely.
