Will Redskins consider more FA signings with 5th most cap-space in NFL?

Free agency is largely over in the NFL, but with almost $25 million in cap-space, the Redskins could continue to add players after the draft.

Though it is the NFL Draft that is one everyone’s mind, the free-agency period in the NFL is still open, and the Washington Redskins still have an ability to be major players on the open market.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Redskins have just under $25 million left in salary cap space, ranking as the fifth most in the NFL. This is important for a few reasons, mainly the flexibility it gives them to fill out their roster with FA’s and undrafted free agents after the draft is over. We all remember the most recent UDFA that Washington signed in 2019 — Steven Sims Jr.

Though most of the top free agents are off the board, there are still several names that the Redskins should look out for. Here are a few to keep in mind.

  • WR Marqise Lee
  • RB Devonta Freeman
  • TE Delanie Walker
  • TE Trey Burton
  • WR Taylor Gabriel
  • LT Jason Peters
  • LB Markus Golden
  • WR Demaryius Thomas
  • LT Donald Penn
  • WR Rashaad Higgins

There’s no guarantee that the Redskins will choose to add another veteran free agent after the draft has come and gone, but with almost $25 million to spend, it’s definitely not out of the question.
